OUR STORY

It started with a simple belief.
Childhood is built in the everyday.

The Play Projects grew from Kait Cummins’ belief that children thrive through play, relationships and the people who know them best.

OUR STORY

Deep expertise.
Made useful.

Kait Cummins is a paediatric occupational therapist, founder and a key voice in Australian child development. For more than two decades, she has worked alongside children, families and educators—bringing clinical knowledge into real life with warmth, clarity and a deep respect for childhood.

Support that fits
real family life.

The Play Projects began with a clear idea: specialist support should help children participate more fully in the lives they are already living. Therapy matters, but the session is only one part of a child’s week.

Kait wanted families to feel understood, educators to feel capable and children to experience support that recognised their strengths. That meant looking beyond isolated skills to the whole child—their interests, relationships, environments and everyday opportunities to play, learn and belong.

The foundations for raising happy, healthy and confident kids.

“A great childhood doesn’t need to be complicated.”

As a mum of four living with her husband Marcus and their children in North East Victoria, Kait’s work is grounded in family life. The river, the farm and the rhythms of raising children in a regional community continue to shape how she thinks about development: more movement, more connection, more time in nature and more room to play.

Children building skills and connection through movement and play

One idea.
Many ways to help.

Today, The Play Projects brings together occupational therapy, speech pathology, physiotherapy, positive behaviour support, education and allied health assistance.

Across individual support, groups, intensives, schools, early learning settings and The Play Projects Club, the purpose remains the same: to help children build skills, confidence and connection—and to strengthen the capability of the people around them.
